A friend of mine and Omaha native is currently studying abroad in Barcelona. Last night he met up with a fellow Omahan Tim Kasher on the streets of Spain to catch him perform a couple sidewalk tracks. It is safe to say that Omaha definitely outstretches its wings far and wide.

Cursive and Cymbals Eat Guitars cover Gin Blossoms

Cursive and Cymbals Eat Guitars combined their efforts and created an off-shoot supergroup that could possibly be best suited under the moniker “Cursive Eats Guitars.” The bands stopped by the Onion's A.V. Club studios and weaved together their capabilities to cover the 90’s pseudo-smash track “Hey Jealousy,” by Gin Blossoms. Watch and enjoy.

In the midst of the first leg of their tour, Cursive was planted in Phoenix on Monday, Feb. 27. The band played both a daytime in-store acoustic performance at Zia Records and a nighttime set at the Crescent Ballroom. Melissa Fossum from the Phoenix New Times has the scoop on both performances, loaded with a ton of video from both performances. Check out the review and videos here.

Having a hard time keeping composure while you wait for the Conduits' record release show on March 16 at The Waiting Room with Gus & Call and Sun Settings? So are we. To help you pass the time, jet on over to their band page and stream a few tracks right here.
Can’t make it to the release show because you don’t live near Omaha, you say? Conduits will be hitting the road right after their release show to support Cursive and the release of their new album I Am Gemini. Check out the tour dates here.

The boys in Cursive may be getting gradually older, but their material is still sweeping through the country like an ole Western dust storm in the 30’s. Rolling Stone got the first cop of their new track, “The Sun and the Moon,” last week, and it is a sample of their upcoming concept album, I Am Gemini. Stream here.

Along with covering all the Maha acts ( Matisyahu, Guided by Voices, J Mascis, Cursive, Somasphere, Noah’s Ark Was A Spaceship and more), the interns were compelled to slave work in the form of passing out handbills. But no one wants to hear about that, right?
