Hey daddy-o, be sure to save yourself some steam this weekend and jet on down to the House of Loom to twist and jive to Sunday’s sock hop. A host of retro clams will be spinning the sounds that emulate poodle skirts and malt shops of the 50’s. Also, Noah Sterba and the Cocktails will clog the stage with an umph-teen amount of musicians playing viciously and vicariously through the Yuppies frontman. It’s sure to be a hell of a gas. More info on the show here.

Word to the wise: Next time you dress in your weekend best while attending a Harouki Zombi show, realize that you will get spewed with sludge. Yes, those geisha-donning minions sure look sultry in a zombified way, but they encourage crowd participation - whether you like it or not. As the funktronic jams blasted throughout the night, so did the sprays of whipped cream, paint, glitter and squashed fruit. To check out the photos by Shannon Claire at House of Loom, click here.

Loom has been weaving its culturally-aware international beats for six years now. This was the first birthday celebrated at House of Loom, the club that would not be a club if it were not for the idea of Loom in the first place. Check out Daniel Muller’s photos from the night here.

Azure Ray's Orenda Fink and Of Montreal's Nina Barnes teamed up recently and put their talents to the flash and dance.  Combining the arts of DJ and visual performance, Harouki Zombi was created to give listeners a geisha-induced dance party.  Check out the video that premiered on Rolling Stone right here.
