All the buzz surrounding Conor Oberst this week makes you wonder if you can buy your ticket to see Desaparecidos at Maha Music Festival this summer with buzz bucks. Last night, bucks, bills, cashola, dinero, etc. were not required for Desaparecidos' free, secret show at the Slowdown. For a better idea as to how the show went down, read my review on the night here. To catch a glimpse of what you missed, Pitchfork acquired a clip of Desa’s new song “Left is Right,” from last night and you can see that here.

Rob Delaney is a man of many words, or a man of 140-characters. It all depends if he is performing for a live audience or his Twitter followers. Nonetheless, Delaney is a Brilliant, witty character that will, without a doubt, be taking over the world in 2012. Tomorrow [Friday Jan, 6], Delaney will take stage at Slowdown, for what is sure to be a memorable night. To see the exclusive HN interview with Delaney, click here.

On Sunday, Dec. 11 The Slowdown was a party platter with a plethora of Omaha’s finest musicians and comedians to spread the holiday cheer, as well as to celebrate Omahype's second anniversary celebration. In this video to assist the memory from the night, watch Laura Burnhenn (The Mynabirds) and April Faith-Slaker cover the Zombies' “This Will Be Our Year.” The song is featured on an almost-out-of-print Mynabirds’ 7-inch.

Omaha Psychedelic visionaries by way-of-the-future, InDreama steam the Slowdown with musical mist during their recent performance on Dec. 1. The video, which is produced by Nicholas O’Bradovich and Clay Lomneth, is an equally-visual psych experience that can bend the mind without the enhancement of chemicals or fungus. This is the live performance of InDreama’s song “Reprogram.” Be careful and enjoy, friends.

#61 The So-So Sailors: Young Hearts from Love Drunk on Vimeo.

Hear Nebraska does the ole double punch when it comes to Omaha’s indie rock band The So-So Sailors this week. With their EP-titled track “Young Hearts” becoming the latest installment of the Love Drunk series and a full feature from HN’s Steven Ashford, it looks like nothing but smooth sailing for these So-So’s as they cruise on into Slowdown Friday Dec. 9 to release their debut LP, Young Hearts.

The Love Drunk video above was shot in downtown’s Hot Shops Studios while the feature interview took place on a snowy afternoon at Leavenworth Bar in Midtown. The Sailors plan on making this release show quite the memorable experience, as each guest gets a copy of the EP with the price of admission. For more information on the show, click here.

Hailing from Cincinnati, the American rock trio Buffalo Killers know what it means to preserve the music of what was laid out before them. They also know how to reinvent their own sounds to call their music “their own.” HN caught up with bassist Zachary Gabbard to chat about the fundamentals of the band, their Midwestern morals, working alongside his brother Andrew, and recording in a large, 19th Century farmhouse in rural Ohio. Buffalo Killers play at Slowdown tonight alongside Northwest Mississippi All-Stars, but in the meantime, check out Zach’s interview here.

Okay, maybe they’re not “coming to dinner,” but local Omaha folkies Gus & Call are going to be calling the Slowdown their home turf with a residency all throughout December! There are many great bands that are going to accompany them throughout the month on these shows, so make sure that you get out to a couple this joyous holiday month. For a list of dates and bands playing, check out all the info right here.
